Synodal Pathway meeting: Following previous diocesan regional meetings concerning the Synodal Pathway of the Diocese of Raphoe, it has emerged from them that Raphoe's two key priorities, as we look to the future, will be faith 1. Formation and 2. Co-responsibility. At the time of those earlier meetings, it was agreed that people in each regional group should be invited to come together again to explore the fruits of our communal discernment and how we can move forward as a vibrant faith community. To facilitate this, in our Deanery area of local parishes, a further meeting has been organised for Wednesday the 29th April in Ards Friary at 7pm. Bishop Niall Coll extends an open invitation to everyone to be a part of this discussion and process.

to bear consistent witness to Christ in accordance with the prophetic gift
which the Lord bestows upon his whole Church.” (Pope Leo XIV, General
Audience, 18th March 2026). To attend, please book a place by text

Collection
Last week you gave €1,188 to the Offertory Collection. Thank you for your gift to God and His Church.

Once you've accepted your flaws, nobody can use them against you.

Today's Gospel finds Jesus' friends downcast and confused at all that happened in their world. His death had devastated them; rumours of his resurrection amazed and confused them. Into their sadness and confusion Jesus comes; walking with them, talking with them even though they didn't recognise him and yet they said later 'didn't our hearts burn within us as he talked to us on the road?' It's a reminder to us that he is always with us as believers even if we don't recognise him. Sometimes he speaks to us through the love and kindness of others; the friendly word or gesture, the willingness to listen, the acceptance of us for all our faults and failings. There is surely someone in all our lives who makes us feel better just for knowing them; they reflect God's goodness and love and care in the simplest ways.

The great gift that Jesus left his followers to remind them of his constant presence was the Eucharist when he promised to be with us wherever it was celebrated in memory of him. And when we have listened and nourished ourselves in communion with each other we go to bring this word and this nourishment to others. Because the religion that Jesus Christ taught was one of giving and forgiving; of living life to the full and making the most of each day. In the words of St Catherine of Siena, 'Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.'

Alleluja Alleluja Alleluja

Easter is God's Refusal that Anyone should be left for Dead

Prayers of the Angel
"My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love You! I ask pardon of You for all those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love You!"

"Most Holy Trinity; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly, and I offer You the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences with which He Himself is offended. And, through the infinite merits of His most Sacred Heart, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of You the conversion of poor sinners."

Why Sunday Matters
Sunday has always been the day of the Lord: the day of resurrection, the day of rest the day of Eucharist.
From the very beginning of our Christian faith, Sunday has been central to the life of the Church and remains the heart of Christian practice. It is on this day that we gather as a community, united in our love for Christ, to encounter the risen Lord and be nourished in body and soul. '
'The Mass is not just a ritual, it is the source and summit of our faith. It is where we encounter Christ in His living presence, and it is through the Eucharist that we are strengthened to live as true disciples. Attending Mass on Sundays, or its vigil on Saturday evening, is not just an obligation; it is a profound privilege and a chance to experience God's love in a deeply personal way. As we come to this sacred celebration let us do so with hearts full of gratitude for the precious gift of Christ's presence among us.

Church Gate Collections
While we acknowledge the hard work done by these charities and the time and effort involved, so called “church gate” collections are entirely outside the jurisdiction and responsibility of the Parish of Inver.
Such collections are sanctioned by permit by An Garda Síochána as “street collections”. The permission of the Parish Priest is not required as they take place on public property.
This permit expressly forbids such collections from taking place on parish property. No aspect of such collections can take place on Church grounds. The grounds on the 4 churches are clearly marked by walls and pillars.
The Charities Act 2009 specifies that permitted collections must take place in a ‘public place’. A ‘public place’, is defined as ‘any place to which the public have access whether as of by right or by permission and whether subject to or free of charge’ but does not include a Church or building used for public worship or the grounds of a Church or of such building.
The Parish of Inver strongly encourages anyone with concerns or complaints about the organisation and conduct of so-called “Church Gate Collections” to contact An Garda Síochána.

AN TRÍÚ DOMHNACH DEN CHÁISC A

AN CHÉAD LÉACHT

Sliocht as Gníomhartha na nAspal. 2:14, 22-28.
Lá Cincíse ag éirí ina sheasamh do Pheadar i gcuideachta an aon fhear déag, d'ardaigh sé a ghuth agus labhair leo: "A fheara Isráél, éistigí leis na briathra seo; Íosa as Nazarat, fear a fuair dearbhú ó Dhia eadraibh, leis na cumhachtaí, na hiontais agus na míorúiltí a rinne Dia tríd in bhur measc, mar is eol daoibh féin fosta, nuair a tugadh suas é sin le comhairle chinnte, agus le réamheolas Dé, d'imir sibhse crá agus bás air trí lámha dhaoine urchóideacha. Thóg Dia suas é, á shaoradh ó ifreann, mar nárbh fhéidir don bhás greim a choinneáil air. Óir mar a deir Dáiví fa dtaobh de: Chonaic mé an Tiarna i gcónaí os mo chomhair, óir tá sé ar mo dheis chun nach gcorraitear mé. Ar a shon sin bhí áthas ar mo chroí agus rinne mo theanga lúcháir; lena chois sin, beidh m'fheoil go suaimhneach faoi dhóchas, de bhrí nach bhfágfaidh tú m'anam in ifreann agus ní ligfidh tú do do Neach Naofa truailliú a fheiceáil. D'fhoilsigh tú slithe na beatha dom, agus líonfaidh tú le háthas mé le bheith i do láthair.
Briathar an Tiarna. FR. Buíochas do Dhia.

FREAGRA AN TSAILM

Taispeáin dúinn slí na beatha, a Thiarna.

AN DARA LÉACHT

Sliocht as céad litir Naomh Peadar. 1:17-21.
A chlann ionúin, má bheir sibh Athair ar an té a thugas breith chothrom ar gach duine de réir a ghníomhartha, iompraígí sibh féin go hurramach ómósach ar feadh tréimhse bhur ndeoraíochta. Tá a fhios agaibh nach le nithe gan tairbhe, mar ór agus airgead, a fuasclaíodh sibh ón drochnós beatha a tháinig anuas chugaibh ó bhur sinsir, ach le fuil róluachmhar Chríost, an t-uan gan locht, gan smál. Bhí sin i ndán dó sular cruthaíodh an saol, ach is i ndeireadh aimsire a foilsíodh é ar bhur sonsa a chreideann trídsean sa Dia a thóg ó mhairbh é, agus a thug glóir dó, ionas go bhfuil creideamh i nDia agaibh agus dóchas agaibh as.
Briathar an Tiarna. FR. Buíochas do Dhia.

ALLELUIA

A Thiarna Íosa, nocht na scrioptúir dúinn; cuir ár gcrói ar lasadh ionainn le linn duit bheith ag labhairt linn.
Alleluia!

SOISCÉAL
Sliocht as an Soiscéal naofa de réir Naomh Eoin.
20:19-31.

Tráthnóna an lae sin, an chéad lá den tseachtain, nuair a bhí na doirse druidte ar an áit a raibh na deisceabail, le heagla roimh na Giúdaigh, tháinig Íosa chucu, sheas sé ina measc agus dúirt leo: “Síocháin daoibh!” Nuair a bhí an focal sin ráite thaispeáin sé daofa a lámha agus a thaobh. Bhí lúcháir ar na deisceabail nuair a chonaic siad an Tiarna. Labhair Íosa leo arís agus dúirt: “Mar a chuir an tAthair mise uaidh, táimse do bhur gcur-sa.” Nuair a bhí sin ráite aige, shéid sé a anáil orthu agus dúirt: “Glacaigí an Spiorad Naomh. Na daoine a maithfidh sibh a bpeacaí dóibh, beidh siad maite dóibh; na daoine a gcoinneoidh sibh a bpeacai, beidh a bpeacaí coinnithe.” Ní raibh Tomás, duine den dáréag, ar a dtugtaí Didimus, ina gcuideachta nuair a tháinig Íosa. D’inis na deisceabail eile dó: “Chonaic muid an Tiarna.” Ach dúirt seisean leo: “Muna bhfeice mé lorg na dtáirní ina lámha agus muna gcuirim mo mhéar isteach san áit a ndeachaigh na táirní, agus mo lámh isteach ina thaobh, ní chreidfidh mé.” Ocht lá ina dhiadh sin bhí na deisceabail sa teach arís, agus Tomás leo. Bhí na doirse druidte, ach tháinig Íosa, sheas sé ina measc agus dúirt: “Síocháin daoibh!” Ansin dúirt sé le Tomás: “Sín amach do mhéar agus seo duit mo lámha; cuir amach do lámh agus cuir isteach i mo thaobh í; ná bí michreidmheach, ach creidmheach.” D’fhreagair Tomás: “Mo Thiarna agus mo Dhia.” Dúirt Íosa leis: “De bhrí go bhfaca tú mé, a Thomáis, chreid tú. Is beannaithe iad sin nach bhfaca agus a chreid.” Is iomaí sin comhartha eile a rinne Íosa i láthair a dheisceabal nach bhfuil scríofa sa leabhar seo. Ach tá an méid seo scríofa ionas go gcreide sibh gurbh é Íosa an Críost, Mac Dé, agus trí bhur gcreideamh go mbeadh beatha agaibh ina ainm.

Soiscéal an Tiarna. FR. Moladh duit, a Chríost.

(Pope Leo XIV, General Audience, 18th March 2026).

Thought for the Day

Jesus' encounter with the two disciples of Emmaus is a fleeting one. But the entire destiny of the Church is contained within it. It tells us that the Christian community is not enclosed within a fortified citadel, but rather journeys along its most essential environment, which is the road. And there, it encounters people with their hopes and disappointments, burdensome at times. The Church listens to everyone's stories as they emerge from the treasure chest of personal conscience, in order to then offer the Word of Life, the witness of love, a love that is faithful until the end. And thus, the hearts of people reignite with hope.
-Pope Francis 2017

A Letter from The Cardinal of Naples, Don Mimmo Battaglia (abridged version)

To the merchants of death, to you who trade with the blood of men,
to you who count profits while mothers count their children,
to you who call “strategy” what the Gospel calls scandal,
I address words that arise not from diplomacy, but from wounds.

There are nights, in this time, when humanity seems lost.
Long nights, where the sky offers no comfort and the earth returns only rubble.
Yet right there, in the heart of the night, the Gospel persists.

It continues to say that no man is born to be a target. That no child is destined for the dust.
That no mother must learn to recognize her child from a shred of cloth.
That peace is not a weakness to be mocked, but the highest form of strength.
There is no justice if the wealth of a few is based on the grief of many.
And there will be no peace as long as war remains an acceptable investment.

The Gospel does not negotiate. The Gospel does not bless the industries of destruction.
The Gospel does not get used to the dead. The Gospel cannot tolerate pain becoming statistics.
The Gospel puts a child at the centre. Always.
And when a child is at the centre, all your arguments crumble.
I ask you to recognize that human life is sacred, or it will no longer be human.
to abandon the logic of profit and enter into that of protection.

Let the tears you’ve kept out of your rooms reach you. Let the names of the dead enter your boardrooms.
Let a mother come and disturb your accounts. Let the Gospel ruin your peace.
There is no peace without disarming the heart. War doesn’t begin when the first bomb falls.
It begins much earlier: when our brother becomes an obstacle,
when the poor become irrelevant, when compassion is deemed naive,
when the economy stops serving life and decides to use it.
You must become human again. Before managers, shareholders, strategists, intermediaries: human beings.
I dream of the day when iron will not become a bullet but a plough
when ingenuity will not serve to perfect offense but to protect life,
when capital will be spent on healing, educating, rebuilding, welcoming.
How much more pain must history endure before you understand that you are trafficking
not in merchandise, but in children, in mothers, in faces, in flesh loved by God?

The world needs alert consciences, not blind profits. It needs prophets, not merchants.
Give back children to their mothers, fathers to their homes, dreams to the earth.
Give yourselves back to your humanity.

Peace Not War sign

Final Hymn: Here I am Lord
I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin, my hand will save.
I, who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them? Whom shall I send?
Here I am Lord, is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go Lord, if you lead me
I will hold your people in my heart

Parish Choir Practice Monday 7.15pm

Entrance Hymn: Give Me Joy
Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising,
Give me joy in my heart, I pray.
Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising,

Sing hosanna (x3), to the King.
Give me love in my heart, keep me serving....

Fintra N. S. Board of Management Statement
The Board of Management met on Wednesday 15th April. There are currently four pupils enrolled in the school. In the past few months, many efforts have been made to encourage new enrolments, including an Open Day, the offer of a preschool, breakfast club & afterschool service, an enrolment video and a survey of prospective parents. Despite these efforts, we have had only one conditional enrolment for September 2026.
In light of this, the Board has extended the enrolment deadline to Wednesday 22nd April. After this date, the Board regrets that they will have no option but to liaise with the school patron, Bishop Niall Coll, regarding the closure of the school from the end of this academic year if the position remains unchanged. Please contact the school on 0749731668 or email info@fintrans.ie by 3pm next Wednesday 22nd April if you require enrolment forms for any classes.

These people would then be trained up on various faith formation programmes that could then be run in your parish when you so wish. I will provide the training and provide these people with information and programmes on an on-going basis.

Alpha

During the past few months, the Parish Pastoral Council along with a number of others, have been doing the Alpha course with a view to introducing it to everyone in the parish later this year. It was found to be a very good introduction to the faith we share and helped develop our understanding of some of the basics of the faith.
Other parishes in our diocese have also been running this course for a couple of years and they have found it to be a very lifegiving part of parish life. What is Alpha? The Alpha is a 10-week series of sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Alpha provides a safe space for people of all ages to discuss life, meaning and faith in a friendly and informal environment. Each Alpha session start with a bit of social time and a cup of tea or something to eat. There is then a video on some aspects of the faith which also includes a discussion on the topic with a small group. This time is an opportunity for people to hear from one another and their thoughts on the topic in a very friendly and informative manner. Alpha is open to everyone who wants to explore the Christian faith, particularly those who know little or nothing about it at present and would want to find out more. If anyone is interested in finding out a bit more about Alpha or being part of the next course starting in September, please contact the Parish Office with your details or speak with Fr. James or any member of the Parish Council. For further information on Alpha, please visit:www.alphaireland.org/

PRESENTATION ON EVANGELISATION taking place on Monday 20th April 2026 at 7.30pm in the Raphoe Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Letterkenny. The presentation will be given by Fr Philip Kemmy. The presentation will focus on the Who, What and How. Who is responsible for evangelisation? What is evangelisation? How is it done? This presentation is open to everyone, and especially to Parish Pastoral Councils. As St Paul VI reminds us, “The Church exists in order to evangelise” (Evangelii Nuntiandi, 14). And as Pope Leo XIV teaches, “...each baptized person is an active agent of evangelisation, called to bear consistent witness to Christ in accordance with the prophetic gift which the Lord bestows upon his whole Church.” (Pope Leo XIV, General Audience, 18th March 2026). To attend, please book a place by text to 087 4504873 or by email to dpr@raphoediocese.ie.

CONGRATULATIONS AND THANK YOU from Áine Walsh & the Lourdes Pilgrimage 2026 for your support. The raffle winners were – Easter Hamper – Daniel Ward, Burtonport. Cope Voucher – Ellie Coleman, Killybegs. Bridge inn Voucher – Sharon Molloy, Milford and DSS Voucher – Gerry Quinn, Dungloe. Thank you to the sponsors for donating the prizes and to Aldi in Dungloe for facilitating the selling of the tickets.

EASTERTIDE, ALSO KNOWN AS THE EASTER SEASON, is the liturgical period in the Church that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It begins on Easter Sunday, the day commemorating Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, which Christians consider the central truth of the faith. Eastertide extends for fifty days, concluding on Pentecost Sunday, which celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit to the apostles and the birth of the Church’s mission in the world. The significance of Eastertide lies primarily in its focus on the resurrection as the foundation and source of Christian hope and new life. This period celebrates Jesus’ transformation in spirit, power, and glory after His resurrection, serving as a precursor and model for the resurrection and eternal life promised to all believers (Mt 28:17, Lk 24:52, Jn 20:20, 1 Cor 15:42-44). The risen Christ’s appearances, described in the Gospels, show Him as transformed, divine, and worthy of worship, revealing the truth about His divine nature and the completion of His mission on earth [16]. Eastertide is also a time that highlights the establishment of the new covenant between God and humanity through Jesus’ sacrificial death and resurrection. His blood is seen as the definitive guarantee of this covenant, offering forgiveness of sins, freedom from evil, and eternal life with God (Jn 6:48-58) [20]. The liturgical celebrations during this season, especially the Eucharist, not only commemorate these salvific events but also make present Jesus’ resurrected life and presence among the faithful. Receiving the Eucharist during this period nourishes believers spiritually, fostering peace, healing, transformation of the heart, and unity within the Church [19]. In summary, Eastertide is the joyful and transformative season commemorating Christ’s resurrection, His victorious promise over death, and the inauguration of God’s kingdom. It concretely expresses the heart of Christian faith – the victory of life over death – which grounds Christian doctrine, worship, hope, and the meaning of suffering in the promise of Eternal Life
