## Alleluia Alleluia Alleluia Alleluia Alleluia
‘If you want somebody to understand what the major intellects of the world religions mean by God, you could do a great deal worse than introduce them to Anna.’
Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams is among the many fans of Mister God, This is Anna, the story of four-year-old Anna and her friendship with 16-year-old Fynn, the author. Anna’s outpourings on life, science and God, or ‘Mister God’ as she calls him, have entranced readers for years, bursting as they do with joy, inquisitiveness and insight. During a discussion on ‘Mister God’ and the ways in which he is different from people, Anna concludes: ‘So you see, Fynn, people can’t talk about Mister God from the outside; you can only talk about Mister God from the inside of him.’
As an illustration of the mystery of God’s presence with us, it goes a long way. It is this mystery that Jesus breaks down for his disciples in today’s Gospel when he promises to send his Spirit to be with them: ‘On that day you will understand that I am in my Father and you in me and I in you’. Four-year-old Anna seems to have a handle on this mystery.
## Prayers of the Angel
“My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love You! I ask pardon of You for all those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love You!”
“Most Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly, and I offer You the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences with which He Himself is offended. And, through the infinite merits of His most Sacred Heart, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of You the conversion of poor sinners.”
## Easter is God’s Refusal that Anyone should Be left for Dead
Life is like a piano; the white keys represent happiness and the black show sadness. But as you go through life’s journey, remember that the black keys also create music.

Thoughts on the Readings for the Sixth Sunday of Easter
The common theme of John's Gospel which we are reading these weeks is the fact that Jesus, following his resurrection, has left us and returned to his Father. At the same time, he is still with us, but in a different way from before his death on the cross. And today's readings tell us that it is through the Spirit of the Father and the Son that that presence is experienced by us. We see this clearly expressed in today's Gospel passage. Jesus is telling his disciples at the Last Supper that, through the Spirit, he will continue to be with them—and us—forever. He calls the Spirit an 'Advocate'. In other biblical translations he is called a 'Counsellor' (NRSV, NIV), 'Comforter' (King James), Counsellor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby (Amplified Bible), Advocate (NAB, NRSV). The Greek word is parakletos, from which comes the older word 'Paraclete'. Basically a 'paraclete' is someone like a defence lawyer, someone who stands by you in court and gives you support, advice and comfort in difficult situations where you need help. That is precisely the role of the Spirit in our Christian life. The Spirit teaches, guides, supports, consoles and comforts as we try to be faithful in our following of Christ's Way.

## Thought for the Day
Jesus speaks about being still alive even after his death. Mostly we find Jesus to be alive for us in the love of others. There is an energy of love which is connected to the energy of God, for God is love. This is the working of the Spirit of god, alive in love, care and compassion, and in all other good works.
Love is evident in action and any activity can be tiring. I do not need to rely on my own resources but turn to God who promises to help me, ready to send the Holy Spirit. Like a bargain-hunter or a bird-spotter, I train my heart to recognise the ways of God. - sacredspace.com

Queen of the May / Bring Flowers of the Rarest
This very popular hymn was composed by Mary E. Walsh, an American musician. It was first published in 1871. It is about spring, flowers and blossoms, in the pastoral setting of woodland, hillside and dale - and above all it's about the Queen of the May.
O Mary, we crown thee with blossoms today
Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May.
Depicting Mary wearing a crown is found in the 5th century, East and West. Later images have Mary seated on a throne, dressed like a queen and surrounded by angels and saints.
Christ is sometimes seen placing a crown on her head. This hymn has been recorded by many artists and perhaps most associated with Canon Sydney McEwan. He was born in Glasgow in 1908 into a poor family, went to Glasgow University and began a singing career. He went to the Scots College in Rome and was ordained in 1944. His concerts and records went to charity. He died on 26th September 1991 as parish priest of Dunoon, Argyll, in Western Scotland.

Entrance Hymn: Morning Has Broken
Morning has broken like the first morning.
Blackbird has spoken like the first bird.
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning.
Praise for them springing fresh from the world.
Sweep the rain's new fall sunlit from heaven.
Like the first dew fall on the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden,
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass.
Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning.
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning.
God's recreation of the new day.

Five Finger Prayer by Pope Francis

^{}[]
1. The finger nearest you is the thumb. Pray for all who are closest to you, your family & your friends.
2. The next finger is your index finger. Pray for your parents, your teachers and those who guide you through life.
3. The next finger is the tallest finger. Pray for our own leaders and all other leaders in the world.
4. The fourth finger is called the ring finger, the weakest finger. Pra y for those who are weak or sick or suffering in any way in our world.
5. The next finger is the smallest finger. Pray for yourself.

Final Hymn: Queen of the May
Bring flowers of the rarest,
Bring blossoms the fairest,
From garden and woodland and hillside and dale;
Our full hearts are swelling, our glad voices telling
The praise of the Loveliest flower of the vale.
O Mary we crown thee with blossoms today,
Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May. (x2)
Their Lady they name thee,
Their mistress proclaim thee,
Oh grant that thy children on earth be as true.
As long as the bowers are radiant with flowers
As long as the azure shall keep its bright hue. (C)
Sing gaily in chorus,
The bright angels o'er us
Re-echo the strains we begin upon earth;
Their harps are repeating
The notes of our greeting,
For Mary herself is the cause of our mirth. (Chorus)

# Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

This Sunday, we are reminded that God’s love is always active and present in our lives. The coming of the Holy Spirit gives us strength. We are encouraged to trust that God is with us in every moment. Building on this, the "Good News" is reaching new people, and the Spirit is moving among them.
The psalm invites everyone to praise God for His mighty works. Peter calls us to speak of our hope with gentleness. In the Gospel, Jesus promises the Spirit will be with us forever. Jesus promises his disciples that He will ask the Father to send them the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, to be with them forever. If they love Him and keep His commandments, He also promises that He will come to them and reveal Himself to them, and whoever loves Him and keeps His word will be loved by the Father, and they will dwell with Him.
This message reminds us that God draws close to His people. It shows us how our faith grows when we live in love, speak with courage, and keep our eyes fixed on the Lord.

Angone who receives my commandments and keeps them will be one who loves me; ...

# Exam Prayer Sponsors
Over the next few weeks, the young people of our parish will be doing their exams. As a way to support the students through this time they are asked to complete a simple request sheet in either church requesting someone to pray for them as they prepare for and do their exams. On the weekend of Sunday 10th May, these sheets will be available in the church and we, who are not doing exams, will be asked to take one and remember and pray for that young person. It will be relatively anonymous as the sponsor will only have the first name of the student. However, your support to the youth of the parish, as a prayer sponsor, is very much appreciated during what can be a stressful time for them. Thanks.

PRAYER PETITIONS FOR LOURDES please leave with Fr Johnny before 24th May
In Catholic devotion, May is traditionally associated with Mary as a special month of honour prayer, and love. The sources here do not explicitly name "May" as Mary's month, but they do show that Marian devotion is one of the Church's richest devotional traditions, expressed through the rosary, novenas, special prayers, litanies, pilgrimages, icons, and feast days. They also show that Marian devotion developed deeply in the Church from the New Testament, through the early Church and catacombs, into feast days, prayer books, and popular piety.
That makes the month of May fitting for Mary: it is a time when Catholics intensify exactly the kinds of devotions the Church already associates with her—especially the rosary and other contemplative prayers that lead believers more deeply into the heart of her Son. Mary is presented as Mother of God, Mother of the Church, and a central intercessor who comforts, protects, and leads believers toward Christ. So the spirit of May devotion is not to replace Jesus, but to honour Mary precisely because devotion to her 'will always lead us more deeply onto the heart of her son'
OUR LADY OF FATIMA 13rd MAY 2026

O My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Thy mercy. Our lady of Fatima, Pray for us
